InCscoreSo, Terry Riley’s In C is one of my favorite pieces of all time. The sound of it is beautiful – the conceit and structure of it is beautiful – the egalitarian feeling between composer and performer is beautiful. I just love it so much. I’ve performed it a bunch over the years on a bunch of different instruments: piano, oboe, melodica, kazoo, etc. but on March 1st I heed the call of Misters Zach Layton and Nick Hallett to sing this masterpiece as their presenting organization Darmstadt produces yet another fantastic night of producing this piece. (I think this is their 15th year in a row of presenting In C!) We’ll be at Le Poisson Rouge where I bet I’ll end up with a few extra drink tickets (singing for an hour straight generally leaves me needing more water than alcohol) – so stop by for some great tunes and a potential free drink ticket!
