NationalSawdustRenderNational Sawdust, a new exciting venue started by composer/entrepreneur/phenomenon Paola Prestini (along with a couple other amazing folks), opens its doors for its first full season this year and I am so thrilled to be a part of it!  ETHEL, that rocking, rolling, smart ‘n’ sexy dream of a string quartet, is playing The Pirate’s Daughter, the portrait piece I wrote for them a bit ago.  I’ve made a couple of revisions (making sure to include the voice Cory Lee, the new violin dynamo, in the interview backing track!) and I can’t wait to see how they wrestle with this newly spruced up tune.  They’ve put together an amazing program: along with my piece, they’ll offer works by Dorothy Lawson (the group’s radiant cellist), Pamela Z, Missy Mazzoli, Paola Prestini, Mary Ellen Childs, Julia Wolfe, Alexandra Vrebalov, and Anna Clyne!  Come on by!
