Isabelle O'Connell, Irish Pianist, Ireland, New York, Classical ContemporaryPianist Isabelle O’Connell, the Irish Phenom (sounds like she’s a boxer, but thus she was dubbed by the New Yorker a few years back for her dazzling power and playfulness) is giving a recital back in her home town of Dublin at The National Concert Hall.

She’ll be playing my piece Barnacles, alongside gorgeous pieces by Missy Mazzoli, Kate Moore, and Jennifer Walshe.  She’ll also be playing a new work composed for her for the occasion by fellow Irishman Andrew Hamilton.  I love Andy’s beautifully brain-poking music, which I heard recently at the TILT 10 year anniversary concert where we both had pieces played.  Andy’s piece asked the question “how long could jagged arpeggios stay exciting?” and the answer was “for a very, very long time.”  I loved that piece!  Listen to his awesome stuff on his soundcloud account.

But yes – Izzy’s recital! September 3rd! Dublin! National Concert Hall! 8:30pm! If you’re near Dublin, lend an ear!  Here’s the event website.
